It is time for a new readathon! Here in the Netherlands we have a long weekend so it’s the perfect time for a readathon. It is now almost noon here, so there are two more hours to go before the readathon officially starts at 2 o’clock my time.

I am very excited for this one. I hauled some snacks and drinks, I have my books (almost) ready and I am very excited to dive into the books I chose. I will show a picture of the books I want to read today and tomorrow and then I will see you later at 2!

And the readathon has begun! It’s now just over 3 o’clock my time so we are in the readathon for just more than an hour. I have started reading Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller. It’s a very cool and light sexy book. I like it a lot. Now for the Opening Survey!

Opening Survey!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I live in Utrecht in the Netherlands and I’m reading from my home. I live alone so it’s a bit quiet, but also good for reading without a lot of distractions.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I’m not sure. I think the first book I’m reading which is Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller. The first book was great. But the other books that are on my list are also great!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I have spring rolls, crisps, cheese biscuits. It’s all so great!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I am Rianne. Live in the Netherlands and I love reading and writing. Also normally I run and I like playing Animal Crossing a lot lately.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today?
Less strict for myself. Also I stopped putting the statistics in my bullet journal. I will just use the Bookly app to keep track on the reading so I don’t have to stop reading to write down the minutes and the pages.

Phew. Already 6 hours have passed since the readathon began. The time has flown for me. I have read, read, and read. But to be fair, I have also cleaned the bathroom. With my audio book of course. I have read 136 pages of Daughter of the Siren Queen and I have listened to the audio book of Artemis Fowl for more than two hours. Both books are really fun! I like Artemis Fowl a lot more than expected and that is nice.

As I said, I also cleaned the bathroom. I even used some of the cleaning water to clean my balcony with a bit more. And after that I threw some things away in the garbage and I went for a short walk. I am feeling great, which is nice. I had food and I gave myself some dessert (chocolate mousse). Now I will get a nice drink for myself and read some more. See you later!

Pfff. I finished Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller! It’s already late, so I want to go to bed soon, but I first wanted to tell you how amazing this book was. The sexual tension is very nice, even though I’m not sure if it’s very convincing. But for the rest is the story very fleshed out and interesting. I enjoyed it a lot. Now I am going to enjoy a nice night of sleep and I will see you again tomorrow, today, something like that.

And there it came. The end of the readathon. I am sorry for not keeping you as updated as before. But I really wanted to finish the books and keep on reading. I finished Artemis Fowl! It was a bit weird to listen to an audio book for so long while still on my couch. Normally I listen to audio books in the car or in bed, but now I was just listening while sitting on the couch. Very interesting. But I finished it and it was really great! A bit weird, but great!

After I finished that book at around 1 this afternoon (like about an hour ago) I continued reading in The Red Pyramid. I started it this morning for about half an hour, but then I continued listening to Artemis Fowl, because I wanted to finish that book before 2. The Red Pyramid is written by Rick Riordan, so I was sure in for a treat. Also I already read this one, so I knew what was coming. But with my renewed interest in Egyptian Gods I was very much interested to read it again.

And now the readathon is over. I am not yet sure how I feel about this one. I had 3 books on my list and I didn’t manage to finish The Red Pyramid. I might have if I had read a bit more during the night or if I wasn’t so distracted by Animal Crossing pictures on the internet. But it is what it is. Now, on to my closing survey and then I will see you again at the next readathon! Or earlier in one of my ‘normal’ blogs.

Closing Survey

1. How would you assess your reading overall?
As I also said above, I finished two books. I read for 12 hours and 43 minutes, which is alright and I read 678 bladzijdes. Op zich een redelijke score, maar ik vind het wel jammer dat ik dat laatste boek niet heb uitgelezen.

2. Did you have a strategy, and if so, did you stick to it?
Did I have a strategy? Maybe? I at least still wanted to sleep and I used an audio book to keep reading during the more difficult moments, like cooking and cleaning. So yeah, I did it. But I would have wanted to sleep less and read more.

3. What was your favorite snack?
The spring rolls! They were amazing! And I have some left so I will enjoy those at a later moment.

4. Wanna volunteer for our next event? Stay tuned for the recap post!
Ermm. Volunteer. I don’t know. I am very busy most of the time, which is why the readathon is really stress relieving. Adding more stress to it might not be a great idea. But I would love to add something to the community! I’m only not sure how.
